What is the best fluid for cleaning vinyl records?

There are lots of dedicated products available. Liquid solutions leave a deposit in the grooves. Even a weak soap and water solution leaves a slight covering when it dries. 

I suggest using nothing more than distilled or demineralised water. Add (literally) one or two drops of washing up liquid. This breaks down the surface tension of the water allowing it to get into the bottom of the record grooves.
